Which Is Better, Sublimation or Screen Printing?
Find out the answer to this long-standing feud!
It is a question as old as time… One that has been argued over many a pint… Right up there with “Which came first; the chicken or the egg?”, “If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around, did it make a sound?”, “What is the sound of one hand clapping?”, and of course “which is better, dye-sublimation printing or custom screen printing?”
Drumroll please! The answer is… Yes.
Wait, wait, wait! Do not click on to another blog! Let me explain! The truth of the matter is, both custom screen printing and dye sublimation printing are excellent choices. It really depends on what your needs are. Custom sublimation shirts offer more color selection and the ability to place your choice of design all over the t-shirt (or hoodie, or hat, or mask, or whatever). That flexibility means it is also going to cost more per unit than screen printing. Custom screen printing on the other hand is going to be cheaper per unit, an important consideration when ordering in mass quantities. Being an older technology, it also means color selection in the design will be more limited (max. 3-4 colors) & the design will have to stay in one spot on the customized t-shirt (or hoodie, or hat, or mask, or whatever). Ultimately, the answer to this question resides within you, grasshopper…
