Can You Use Dye Sublimation Printing for Cotton?
This question gets asked a lot… Let’s put this matter to rest, shall we?
The short answer is, no there is not. The process of dye sublimation transfers ink from a heat source to the surface of a polyester film. This technology works for cotton but will not have the best outcome. Why not use other materials? As previously mentioned in our past blog ‘For sublimation printing, which fabric is suitable?’, you will want to go with a polyester blend for the best results (75%-100% ideally).
Cotton is not good for the dye sublimation process, no matter what others claim. We take pride in the quality of our workmanship and won’t let anything go out the door that doesn’t meet our standards.
